The Summer Solstice in China

Today is the Summer Solstice(夏至),the tenth of the 24 solar terms in China.

Ancient Chinese people paid great attentions to the 24 solar terms. In Song Dynasty, when the Summer Solstice's coming, officials in the government can get three-days vacation. In Liao Dynasty, women gave fans and perfume satchels as presents to their friends. As fans can be used to keep cool and the perfume things can get rid of mosquitoes.

For years, there is a saying among Chinese people" eating dumplings in the Winter Solstice while eating noodles in the Summer Solstice" . Why noodle？ Because the wheat is ready to be reaped from this day.

Besides delicious noodles, some people eat bean jelly and lichee, or drinking herbal tea this day.
