A rare 100-square-meter stone-flower area has been found in Qingchuan, Sichuan, China |
Residents in Qingchuan, northern Sichuan Province, found a cave in which it has a 100-square-meter stone-flower area, very beautiful and colorful. It has been formed for a very long time, probably billions of years. Journalists came at the site last Sunday and searched for facts.
There was 32 degrees Celsius in the afternoon, but it was so chilly when the journalists came into the Qiaoyu Cavern. They entered the 3rd Cave, walked for about 5 minutes and discovered the beautiful and strange thing. The rocks are in various colors under the electric lights; some stone flowers are like an image of a cock who is calling and some are waterfalls. The local guide led the journalists to the highest level – the Fifth Cave.
The stone-flowers are like snowflakes, but in brilliantly golden color! They occupy about a hundred square meters. The magnificent scene is undoubtedly the highlight here.
Geologists said that the "snowflakes" called stone-flowers in terms of geology. The flowers could only be formed in some special condition, such as concreted calcium carbonate and capillary water flowing from cliff or stalactites. It needed at least ten thousand years to form and the area is generally not so big. There are "stone flowers" caves in Beijing and Guangdong.
