Harbin in Heilongjiang Province is a hottest city to visit in winter. The fascinating city is the first place to embrace the mind-numbing cold in the world of ice and snow. The annual international ice and snow festival attracts a large number of visitors to the city.

Yabuli International Ski Resort

Built on Yabuli Sun Mountain, 120 km west of Mudanjiang and 200 km east of Harbin city, Yabuli International Ski Resort is the best and biggest one in China. From the fact that it is the main training venue for China's national team, people get the basic idea of the quality of its slopes.

The snow falls for about 170 days a year in Yabuli. The best time to ski there is from November to late March. There are nine Alpine pistes from intermediate to advanced levels, and a 500-meter gentle Alpine slope as well as a 5-kilometer Nordic trail for beginners. Visitors can find the suitable slopes according to their levels. The ski resort hires more than fifty professional ski instructors to help you improve at any time.

Transportation: take the regular bus from Harbin Longyun Passenger Station to Yabuli town. In Yabuli town, take the local minibus to Yabuli Ski Resort.
 
 
 
What to eat: Dongbei (northeastern China) food, Russian feast
 
Dongbei food gives priority to stew food. The famous dishes include Disanxian (a stew dish of potato, eggplant and green pepper), stewed chick with mushroom, braised pork with vermicelli, stewed pickled cabbage with streaky pork and fish stew with mixed vegetable and bean curd.

Russian feast is another must in Harbin. Due to the historical reason, the food in Harbin is strongly influenced by Russian style. The Dalieba Bread and Harbin sausage are the two typical delicacies.

Taishan, Shandong Province: holy mountain and unique Shandong food
 
Taishan Mountain

Taishan Mountain is renowned as Dongyue (the Sacred Mountain of East China) that ranks No.1 among the five most important mountains in China. In 1987, Mount Tai was listed as a Cultural and Natural World Heritage site and honored "World Geopark" in 2006. It is well known for its grandness, elevation and width. Its scenes include: cragged cliff, deep canyon and gorge, grotesque peak and strange rocks, good vegetation and the flowing springs.

Admission fee: 100 yuan (Dec.1 – Jan.31); 125 yuan (Feb.1 – Nov.30)

Transportation: take the No.3 city bus from Tai'an Railway Station and get off at Hongmen Road. Tour bus Line 1 and Line 2 are also available at the Tai'an Railway Station.
 

What to eat: Shandong food is composed of Jiaodong food which focuses on seafood, Jinan food and the Confucius cuisine. It features strong taste of salt, freshness and tenderness. The famous dishes include Dezhou braised chicken, prawns strewed in brown sauce, happiness meat ball, fried carp with sweet and sour sauce, Yipin tofu and jarred pork.

Sanya, Hainan Province: enjoy sun-kissed beaches and Hainan four distinguished dishes


Sanya in China lies on a peninsula with beautiful beaches scenic spots and charming sceneries. The region's premier tourist attractions include Dadonghai, Tianya Haijiao, and the Yalong Gulf.

What to eat: visitors in Hainan should not miss the famous Hainan four distinguished dishes, which include Wenchang Chicken, Jiaji Duck, Dongshan Mutton and Hele Crab. 


Qiantong ancient town, Ninghai county, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province



Located 14 kilometers to the southwest of Ninghai county, Zhejiang Province, Qiantong ancient town is the typical surviving example of Confucian culture and architecture in the province. It belongs to the Tong descendants who settled there in the Song Dynasty (960–1279). Today the traditional building of their homes in Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties are well preserved. The worth-seeing scenic sights include old houses, folk-custom museums, Shijing Mountain and Lushan Mountain.

Transportation: take the minibus from Ningbo West Bus Station to Qiantong

Accommodation: visitors can login in the guesthouses in the town, or spend the night in the local farmers'. The prices vary from 30 to 120 yuan.

Feicui (Jade) Island, Changli county, Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province



The Feicui (Jade) Island, located in Changli county, Qinhuangdao in Hebei Province, once is listed in the eight most beautiful seacoasts in China. It is always haunted by lots of photography enthusiasts. Half of the area is sea and the other half is desert, thus it is named "big desert to the east of Beijing". The rolling dunes, crystal sea, blue sky and lush woods form a rare picture of marvelous sea desert.

Transportation: take a taxi from Changli Railway Station to Feicui Island. The cost is about 50 yuan.

 



What to eat: seafood buffet on the seashore keeps visitors dangling. Visitors can also buy the fresh seafood in Huangjin Haian (Golden Seashore) aquatic products market and process in the nearby restaurants.
