Hangzhou to build 5 more tourism distribution centers

 

Vehicles for tourism transfer and private cars are occupying about 90 percent of 2,500 parking spaces at Tourism Distribution Center of Huanglong Stadium, Hangzhou, in the Golden Week during China National Day Holiday, it means the spaces are scarce during peak tourism season. With Zijingang Tourism Distribution Center near Zhejiang University in northwestern Hangzhou, Xixi Wetland Tourism Distribution Center project is under construction. However, for people from eastern and southern Hangzhou areas, they still have to drive quite far to these centers to take air-conditioned coaches. The distribution center at Zhejiang People's Hall in downtown Hangzhou is too small to cater the increasing flux of tourists. So, Hangzhou's planning department manages to establish 5 more tourism distribution centers in the city's West Lake Scenic Area.

Luo Jun, deputy manager of Huanglong Stadium Tourism Distribution Center, said that about 500,000 people-times had used the center annually. Vehicles had occupied about 90 percent of 2,500 parking spaces during the National Day Holiday Week, but 100 percent full for the much small Zhejiang People's Hall. Apart from the fact concerning the traffic issues, Hangzhou is becoming an internationalized tourism city. It requires more quality services by means of building adequate tourism distribution centers around Hangzhou. Centers have to be built in densely populated areas like southeastern portions, where still without any tourism centers.

It is learned that due to recent land planning policy, there will be only land available for establishing two new tourism distribution centers in the near future. Wangsongling Hill Center and Zhuantang Center in the south are planned to be built soon. And other three distribution centers, i.e., Taohualing, Nanfu and Longwu, are for long-term planning.
