A perfect ending for HK Book Fair
The weeklong Hong Kong Book Fair that over 500 publishers in 20 countries attended has ended successfully on July 28, 2009. The event attracted 900,000 people to read tens of thousands of books, comics and paintings. This event not only provided tremendous business opportunities but also gave people a different impression to Hong Kong, where being regarded in the past as "a concrete jungle and a cultural desert".

According to a recent survey conducted by Hong Kong government, over 70 percent of local people who answered the questionnaires have visited Hong Kong Book Fair three times since it first held in 1990. About 60 percent spent 5 hours or above per week to read, they mostly read Chinese books, local magazines and newspapers, as well as English books.
There were 13,000 kinds of books that published in China Mainland seen in the Book Fair, most of them were from the best book publishers, like People's Press, Tsinghua University Press, and Beijing University Press. Books printed in simplified Chinese characters are becoming more popular in Hong Kong, since the Special Administrative Region has been using traditional Chinese characters.
