China's Northernmost Village

 

 

 

Mohe Village, also known as North Pole Village, is located in the Greater Khingan Mountain Area. It is considered the northernmost village of China, the only place where one could see northern lights. Its average annual temperature is around minus 5.5 degress centigrades. Winter here lasts for 8 months. Rainfall mostly happens in July. In mid-June, the sun is visible for as long as 22 hours.
