5000 years ago, human beings lived here. In 121 A.D., Huo Qubing, a general of the Han Dynasty, ordered by the emperor, fought against and eventually beat Hun in the west of Yellow River. So people named it after Huo Qubing’s contribution. Since Emperor Liu Che founded four counties beside Yellow River. Many emperors later also established their administration sectors here. And it gradually became the grand center in the west of Xi’an. It is the important place of Sino-foreign transportation, the important town on Silk Road and the melting pot for Sino-foreign exchange.

Its copper running horse, Xixia stele, white-pagoda temple, Tiantishan rock caves, and Confucian temple are famous around China.
