Weihai, traditionally called Weihaiwei is known as Weihai Garrison in the past. Weihai is a prefecture-level city in eastern Shandong province of China. The easternmost prefecture-level city in the province and a major seaport, Weihai borders Yantai to the west and looks out to the Yellow Sea to the east. The city trees of Weihai are laurel tree and Albizia julibrissin.

Weihai is under the influence of continental monsoon climate of North Temperate Zone and has four distinctive seasons. Additionally, affected by the oceanic adjustment, it also has the feature of cold spring, cool summer, warm fall and mild winter. It has the small temperature difference; frost-free period, more gales and high humidity. Annually the average temperature in this city is 12 Celsius degree; annually average rainfall is 731 millimeters. The coastal line of Weihai is 1,000 kilometers, accounting for 1/3 of that in Shandong .There are 3 large fishing grounds along the coast, which makes Weihai one of the largest fishing production bases in China. More than 300 kinds of aquatic products can be found in Weihai such as prawn, sea cucumber, abalone, shellfish, algae and fishes. There are more than 30 kinds of minerals can be mined such as gold, iron, copper and zinc. The high-quality granite has a large reserve in Weihai, and the granites with the name of Hidao Red, Endeng White and Ushan Black have enjoyed good fame at home and abroad.
