Lhasa Hotel is the only four-star hotel in Tibet. It is the former Holiday Inn and built in European style. It owns 468 rooms, which can be divided into two parts, north building for luxury rooms and south building for standard rooms. It also provides free oxygen supply which is very necessary for non-locals. Besides the dishes it owns are various, Chinese as well as Western, self-help breakfast, snacks, cocktail, etc.

 

Lhasa International Hotel 拉萨国际大酒店
Lhasa International Hotel is opposite to monuments of Qinghai-Tibet Highway and Sichuan-Tibet Highway, which are the gateway of Lhasa. Its main building is 49.8 meters high with 11 floors. It is the landmark of the snowy plateau and known as the highest four-star hotel in the world. Apart from comfortable guestrooms, it is also equipped with inner garden, teahouse, bar, gymnasium, etc.

Shambhala Hotel is founded in 1999 in Shangrila. It is very convenient as east to Jokhang Temple and west to Potala Palace. Yak Hotel 亚宾馆

Yak Hotel is a Tibetan-style hotel and very famous at home and abroad. As an early foreign-affair concerned hotel, the waiters and waitresses there are trained well, let alone communication with foreigner tourists. It owns 120 1uxury and standard suites, and offers 24 hour hot water and air-conditioners.

Lingtsang Boutique Hotel 林仓精品酒店
The hotel is the residence of ling rinpoche (teacher of 13th Dalai Lama), a traditional Tibetan hotel that offers good service and delicious food. Every house is decorated in Tibetan style, spacious and bright. It’s a new hotel opened in June of 2010, therefore is well equipped, a combination of ancient and modern times. It owns only 9 houses, so every tourist can enjoy superior service.

Kyichu hotel is special for its garden, decorated by all green plants like a heavenly place. Guests can sit on the grass, talk, eat and enjoy the beautiful scenery in Tibet with blue sky, white clouds over your head.

It is in central Lhasa, opposite to Tibetan Medical College, very convenient. Guests can see the Potala Palace from the second floor, and actually it’s 10 minutes-walk distance. And there are buses to Sera Monastery in front of the hotel. It is exquisitely decorated, and guests can be provided with free internet, laundry and self-help kitchen service.

 

Banakshol Hotel 八郎学旅馆
It is a typical Tibetan hotel which was opened in 1984. It close to Bajiao Street and listed as one of the top ten inns in the world. It is backpackers’ favorite. On its walls are small pieces of paper for calling up travel partners or selling goods.

 

►Shigatse Hotels:
Shigatse or Rikaze contains the huge Tashilhunpo Monastery, founded in 1447 by Gendun Drup, the First Dalai Lama and is considered as a must visit city in Tibet. It is also the hub of the road network between Lhasa, Nepal and western Tibet.

Shigatse Hotel is the 4 star hotel located in the city center of Shigatse as an old brand hotel but seemed not so welcomed in Trip advisor.

Comparably, the 3 star hotel Shigatse Manasarovar Hotel is quite popular among the real feedback from tourists.

►Gyangze Hotels:
Visiting Palcho Monastery may be the main reason for tourists to go to Gyanze, the 3 star Gyantse hotel is a recommended one for overnight stopover.

 

►Shakya Hotels
Tourists usually stop at Shakya Boarding House, a two-floor Tibetan building. Every room contains four beds, and no electricity. Tourists should take candles by themselves. The waiters there can speak little Chinese. It charges RMB 15 for one guest.

 

 

Camping
People in favor of adventure and hiking can choose camping. Many natural reserves are allowed to camp there, like Namucuo. It is not suggested to camp on roadside. If camp in pasture area, you need to tell the shepherd first.
