In summer time, Tibet's weather may be sometimes hot, so T-shirt, cotton or linen clothing is recommended with a light sweater as indoors are cooled by air-conditioning. The temperature in some historical sites, i.e. monasteries are lower than outside, where especially under bright sunlight. Spring and Autumn are generally ideal for travel. You need light sweaters or jackets for cold mornings and nights. The ultraviolet ray can be strong at daytime so bring sun creams, sun glasses and a hat. Carry adequate drinking water with you during travel.
In winter the weather will be cold with frequent strong winds, so down coat, sweaters, scarf, gloves and a hat are needed in outdoor tours.
Footwear, light and comfortable sports shoes are ideal for your tour, but warmer ones are recommended during winter travel. Mountaineering shoes are essential when hiking.
