Dingri county
Located at the south side of Shigatse Region and north foot of mid-Himalaya mountains, Dingri County（定日） is one of boundary counties in Tibetan Autonomous Region.
In Tibetan, Dingri means Voice Fixed on Small Mountain. It was said that a lama threw a stone and the stone fell down this place with a”Ding” . Afterwards, a temple was built on this small mountain and named Dingri Temple.
Dingri has an average altitude of 4500 meters. The world’s highest peak---Mount Qomolangma is located in its administrative region, which borders on Nepal. It has a sharp temperature difference between daytime and night-time with a low annual rainfall.
