Located at the connection region of South Tibet and North Tibet and as one part of Jiangtang Grassland, Damxung County(当雄县) is always listed in the golden tourist itinerary. In Tibetan, Damxung means the well-selected pasture. 60 kilometers away from Lhasa, it boasts the north gate of Lhasa. In its administrative region, the average height above sea level is 4300 meters. The total coverage is 1.2000 square kilometers. 

Damxung County is the only one that develops its economy based on its stockbreeding and also one of the meat food supply bases of Lhasa.

Train Station of Damxung County is mostly featured by Tibetan culture along the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, besides, it is also a quite well station built with the modern building style. 

Depart from Damxung County and cross several mountains, a famous scenic spot is available---- Namucuo Lake(Lake Namtso, 纳木错), Chinese second largest salt lake inferior to Qinghai Lake. In its region, Qinghai-Tibet Railway parallels Qinghai-Tibet Highway. Along the routine, visitors also can see the Kindling-Collection Site for Asia Games and legendary Eight Pagodas of North Tibet(藏北八塔).
