Laoshan Mountain

Laoshan MountainLaoshan Mountain is located on the shore of the Yellow Sea. The highest peak of Laoshan Mountain is 1133 m above the sea level. Overlooking the sea, the mountain is characterized by the imposing canyon and undulating peaks and mystery mist. The mountain is said to be home of the "supernatural Spirits". It is the highest mountain along China's 18,000 km-long coastline, and the only mountain whose peak is over 1000 m along China's coastline. In the Qin Dynasty (221 B.C. - 206 B.C.), the first emperor (Qin Shi Huang) once came visit the so called supernatural beings. Then in the Tang Dynasty (618 A.D. - 907 A.D.), the great Emperor Lee Longji also traveled and found supernatural medicines for eternal life here. Laoshan Mountain is known as the sacred mountain of Taoism. In its most flourished time, there were 9 great palaces, 8 great monasteries and 72 nunneries. The Taoists from Laoshan Mountain is always very famous for their knowledge or their legendary skills and stories.

The roads here are curved and uneven, with odd stones, cliffs and caves in Laoshan Mountain that are covered by clear springs and waterfalls. The spring water in Laoshan Mountain has been famous for the brewing of the Tsingtao Beer, a well-known Chinese brand throughout the world. It is said that the mineral water here can be used to cure diseases.
