Wuwei travel guide

 

 

 

The time-honored Wuwei is an important town on the Silk Road. 5000 years ago, human beings lived here. In 121 A.D., Huo Qubing, a general of Han Dynasty, ordered by the emperor, fought against and eventually beat Hun in the west of Yellow River. So people named it after Huo Qubing’s contribution. Since Emperor Liu Che founded four counties beside Yellow River. Many emperors later also established their administration sectors here. And it gradually became the grand center in the west of Xi’an. It is the important place of Sino-foreign transportation, the important town on Silk Road and the melting pot for Sino-foreign exchange.

 

As the big city of cultural relics, Wuwei has the splendid Wuliang culture, Xixia culture and Buddhism culture and many places of interest and cultural heritages. There are 5 national reserves cultural-relic protections units. Its copper running horse, Xixia stele, white-pagoda temple, Tiantishan rock caves, and Confucian temple are famous around China. Especially the copper running horse became the symbol of China’s tourism and it is also called to be the summit of classical artworks. Xixia Stele is the rare historical relic for the research on Xixia history. White pagoda Temple is the historical residence to proof Tibet is one part of China. Tiantishan Rock cave is the oldest one among so many Chinese rock caves. Confucian Temple is one of three important Confucian temples in China. Besides, there is also one national natural reserve. Its unique tableland covered by snow, the landscape of oasis and the Gobi scenery are also the attractive spots for traveling.
