Qutang Gorge
Qutang Gorge has the length of 8 kilometers from the Baidi Town of Fengji County in the west to Daxi Town of Wushan County in the east.
It is the most splendid and magnificent section of the Three Gorges sightseeing area. The main scenic spots include: Fengji ancient town, Bazhengtu Yufu Tower, ancient plank road on cliff, bellow gorge, Fenbi Wall, Menliangti and Rhinoceros Watching Moon. Qutang Gorge is also the shortest one among three gorges. When the bluster of the Yangtze River is stopped by the steep Kuimen, the broad rivers of Yangtze River is instantly squeezed into a narrow and slim ribbon and goes through the deep valley.
In this area, generally the width of river is just 100 or 200 meters. The narrowest point is no more than dozen meters around. The peaks on both sides are about 1000 or 1500 meters. There are many places of interest centralized on two sides of Qutang Gorge. Daxi Cultural site attracts more and more archeologists.
The site of Tu Fu Thatched Cottage also draws many poets to visit here. In Baidi Town you will go back to the Three-kingdom period to see the dying Emperor, Liu Bei, how to tell Zhuge Liang hardly his will. This is Qutang Gorge with lots of attractions and mystery.
