Old Waterside Town-Nanxun Travel in China

Nanxun is situated in Huzhou city of Zhejiang Province. It is the famous historical and cultural town in Zhejiang Province. It faces Taihu Lake in the north and has a common boundary with Jiangsu Province in the east. It is just 51 kilometers distance from Suzhou. 

In Qing Dynasty, the local depicted how much treasure they have in the way of the size and shape of animals. They narrated it like this 4 elephants, 8 cows and 72 gold dogs”. The treasure-owner has 10,000,000 called elephant, 1,000,000 called cow and 30,000 called dogs. The places of interests are multiple and harmonized with surrounding natural landscapes. This area has the long history and inspiration besides it also has the unique enchantment of waterside town in southern area of Yangtze River. It also brought up many great men here! 

Nanxun established eventually 745 years ago. There were many famous people’s former residences such as Jiaye Library, Zhang Jingjiang former residence and Liu Yong’s old residence. The stone bridge of Song Dynasty is also famous here.

Zhang Shiming’s residence was a European style building. It is the only one in all the ancient towns of southern area of Yangtze River. Many architectural materials were all imported from France like the colorful glass. Such a building was located in the common houses. It shows the house owner was deeply influenced by the western culture. There was also a dance hall in the building. While the outside women wrapped their foot tightly, the women in the house were dancing with the western-style music

Jiaye Library was one of the four grandest libraries in the southern area of Yangtze River. This library was a private one and built by the scholar, Liu Chenggan of Qing Dynasty in the time from 1920 to 1924. The amount of the stored books is up to 600,000 scrolls. The buildings are traditional style of Chinese architectures. All the layout shows the delicacy and elegance of garden in southern part of Yangtze River. But the main building is a western style one.

Nanxun is located in Zhejiang Province, but the most convienent way to here will begin from Suzhou in Jiangsu Province.
