Huzhou is located in the north of Zhejiang province. It is neighboring to Shanghai in east, Hangzhou in south, Tian-mu Mountain in west and Taihu Lake in North. It is facing Wuxi and Suzhou in Jiangsu Province. It is the only city that is famous for Taihui Lake. Huzhou is a famous ancient and cultural city with the history of 2300 years. After liberation, Huzhou was administrated as the first special zone, Jiaxing Special Zone and Jiaxing Zone. In 1983, it was finalized as a city. It has the total area of 5,818 square kilometers. The urbanized area is up to 44.1%. It administrates three counties and two districts
Huzhou has the superior conditions of location. It is 75 kilometers apart from Hangzhou, 160 kilometers apart from Shanghai, 220 kilometers from Nanjing. The North-south National Highway of No.104, Hangzhou-Nanjing Highway, Hangzhou-Anhui Highway and No.318 National Highway all go across this city. The Changhusheng Waterway as “Oriental Rhine River”, Shanghai-Suzhou-Zhejiang-Anhui Highway also goes across this famous city. The inland-waterway railway connected with Chinese several main railway systems together.
Huzhou is also called as the silk center, milk -and -honey land and the cultural center. In Song Dynasty there is saying goes like this: The harvest of Suzhou and Huzhou, The world will be guaranteed to be safe without the threat of hunger.
Huzhou’s calligraphy brush is the first brand-name of the four treasures of the study, i.e. writing brush, ink stick, ink slab, paper. Huzhou’s long-standing history and charming culture both drawn many famous people like poet Meng Jiao of Tang dynasty, painting-calligraphy master, Zhao Mengfu of Yuan Dynasty, Novelist Ling Mengchu in Ming Dynasty, Wu Changshuo as the modern Chinese master of painting and calligraphy and the general leader of the New-Literature Movement, Shen Yingmo who was also one of the greatest calligraphers in modern times and so on. It also attracts many celebrities such as Wang Xizhi who was the top authority of Chinese calligraphers, Yan Zhenqing who was the Prime Minister of Tang Dynasty as well as the teacher of Emperor, Su Dongpo who was the greatest poet, painter, official, calligrapher and philosopher in Song Dynasty, Lu Yu who wrote the great masterpiece-Book on Tea in Huzhou.
Huzhou has the picturesque natural and historical resorts.
