Xinan Painting School
Xinan Painting School during the time of Ming and Qing Dynasties, some Huizhou painters lived in the Huizhou or some other areas were generally called the Xinan painters, and their painting styles and forms are thought to be the Xinan Painting School. They were good at the painting with Chinese brush and expressing their sentiment via picturing the landscape of the mountains and hillS around the Huizhou. In the painting theory, the personal-cultivated level and personal doctrine are both emphasized. The painting characteristics are trending to the simplification and high solitude, which highlights the high-level of the ancient painting and personal quality. The first man who referred to Xinan Painting School was Zhang Geng, and then many people called them Xian painters. There were many painters in this school, and more than 80 better painters and the master-level painters are roughly 20 people, such as: Wang Zhiduan, Zha Shibiao, Sun Yi, Wu Shantao and Huang Binghong. The masters of Xinan Painting School painted the steepness of Huangshan Mountain to show themselves and personality.
