Guilin Where to buy

In Guilin there is no big department store, but there are some good places for shopping lovers. Check out the Night Market in Guilin, it is located on the section of Zhongshan Middle Road which between Ronghu North Road and Sanduo Road. This is a good area to buy some nice jewelries, clothing and tourist souvenirs. Guilin is famous for it juicy kumquats, big pomelos and sugar canes, it is good to pick some on your itinerary.

Yangshuo (64 km south from Guilin city's center) is a paradise for shoppers too, there are many boutiques and souvenir shops on West Street. Yangshuo's painted fans are made of great craftsmanship and colorful looking. They are available in various sizes but all are made with either silk or paper with bamboo as the fan support, so handle them with care ! Bamboo and wood carvings are also local handicrafts loved by tourists in Guilin and Yangshuo. In Xingping Town lies just north of Yangshuo, shops run by locals that sell Guilin brocade paintings and miniature Buddhist statues. Remember to bargain as much as possible when buying souvenirs.
