If you are come from place with relatively low humidity, it might be a challenge for you in Chengdu where the weather here is always wet, although it won't be raining all the time. Perhaps you'll feel the blankets in some hotels are a little bit moist, but don't mind for that, it's normal.

Spicy food is not suitable for all people; although many will try to explore. If you are not accustomed with chilly food and you want to try, eat slowly, add some vinegar, soy sauce, or oyster sauce to your plate to weaken the spice. In the restaurant, you can tell the staffs as to whether you want spicy or not spicy hotpot. They can actually put a divider into the pot to provide you with both options. Then put a mark next to all of the meats, vegetables and bean curd you want to try on a menu given to you by the staffs. Sometimes there will be an English menu as well.
