The name "Hong Kong" literally meaning "Fragrant Harbour" in Chinese is derived from the area around the present-day Aberdeen on Hong Kong Island's south. This is an area where fragrant wood and incense products trades were once flourished. The narrow sea strip which separates the Hong Kong Island from the Kowloon Peninsula is known as Victoria Harbour and is one of the deepest natural maritime ports in the world.

Hong Kong Island Tour

Pick you up from your hotel, between 7:50am - 9:00am.

We'll have an outstanding tour of Hong Kong's most important island, including a visit to Victoria Peak to treat you to a magnificent bird's eye of the city and bustling harbour, then on to two of our loveliest beaches at Repulse Bay & Deep Water Bay and Aberdeen with its fishing community and floating restaurant.

Victoria Peak
, a mountain located in the western half of the Hong Kong Island, is documented as the Peak locally, and Mount Austin. With an altitude of 552 m, Victoria Peak is the highest mountain on the island, although far from the highest Tai Mo Shan in the territory. Also, it is known to have the highest land value in the world with many of the Super-Rich residing here. Victoria Peak is strongly attached with an air of prestige because of its view, history and spectacular location. And the Peak is a great place for walks, with its forests of bamboo and fern, lilliputian Chinese pines, hibiscus, and vines of phenomenal beauty. Atop the hill, you will be greeted with some of the world's finest views that stretch all the way to China and Macau.

Located in the Southern District, Hong Kong, the Repulse Bay area is one of the most expensive housing areas in Hong Kong, because of the nice surroundings. The prices are matched only by the mid-levels at Victoria Peak. The bay was used as a base by pirates in 1841 and caused serious concern to foreign merchant ships trading with China. In the 1910, Repulse Bay was developed into a beach which was extended artificially, and thus the sand closer to the shore is coarser than that further away. During the Battle of Hong Kong in World War II, Repulse Bay was an important strategic location.

Deep Water Bay, surrounded by Shouson Hill, Brick Hill, Middle Island and Violet Hill, is a bay on the southern shore of Hong Kong Island. Deep Water Bay Beach, beneath the hill of Violet Hill, is reachable by Island Road, a road connecting Repulse Bay and Wong Chuk Hang. It is only mentioned on early colonial map of Hong Kong 1845.
