Boasting a proud heritage that stretches back over 2,500 years, the downtown area of Suzhou remains as a classic example of architecture and provincial life during the Song Dynasty. Originally a key commercial port at the end of the Grand Canal, it is home of innumerable enchanting Chinese gardens that thankfully escaped the ravages of the cultural revolution. The Old Town district is particularly picturesque.

Itinerary:
9:00am Meet at your hotel at Shanghai and transfer to Suzhou, about 100km away from Shanghai.
10:30am Visit the Humble Administrator's Garden, named Zhuozheng Yuan in Chinese.
11:45am Take a boat ride on the Grand Canal
12:30pm Have an up-close look to the old city by rickshaws
13:00pm Lunch at local restaurant
14:00pm Visit a silk factory, learn how silk products are made step by step
15:00pm Visit Hanshan Temple.
16:00pm Back to Shanghai and drop off at your hotel.
Humble Administrator's Garden: It is the eldest also the most famous Chinese garden in classical gardens at Suzhou. It is located on Dongbei Street in the Old City District, the actual gardening area is about 4 hectares. The construction began in 1509 during the reign of Zhengde Emperor of the Ming dynasty. The master garden was changed several times so it was sometimes being neglected. As a result, the whole garden is divided into three parts, of wihh each of them has very diferent characteristc.
