Tibet Trekking Tour 8 days

 

For those who would like some trekking experiences in Tibet but not sure about their physical capacity at the high elevation, this tour will be a great. The 8-day Tibet tour package covers the major sites of Lhasa and surroundings; we have
arranged two short trekking tours with each taking no more than 4 hours.

Majestic Potala Palace, Lhasa, TibetDay 01 Arrive in Lhasa (Dinner)

Upon arrival, meet your local guide and transfered to your hotel. Have a good rest for the coming adventure.

Day 02 Lhasa (B/L)

Begin your tour in Lhasa with a visit to Potala Visit local Tibetan familyPalace. More than 117 meters (384 feet) in height and 360 meters (1180 feet) in width, the 13-floor building is composed of White Palace, which is for secular use, and Red Palace for religious use.
Have lunch at local restaurant.
In the afternoon, you will visit Jokhang Temple which houses the most precious religious relics. Then stroll along the Barkhor Street where you can find people from every corner of Tibet and buy for your friends or families something typically Tibetan.

Day 03 Lhasa (B/L)trekking around Tayeb Monastery, Lhasa, Tibet

This morning we will drive 8km to visit Drepund Monastery. It is said to be the biggest monastery in the world with over 10,000 monks living in it. In history the 2rd, 3rd and 4th Dalai Lama once lived and were emtombed here. Continue to drive 36 km to Tayeb Monastery which is one of the most renowned monasteries in Tibet with a history of 1,500 years. Trekking along Lhasa River for about 2 hours to visit the caves for valuable Buddhist statues. Transferred back to Lhasa and drop off at your hotel.

Day 04 Lhasa – Dangxiong - Namtso (B/L/D) Namtso Lake, Lhasa, Tibet

Drive to Dangxiong, cross over Naganla Pass and start to trek to Namtso Lake(about 4 hours).  Namtso Lake, the second largest saltwater lake, is one of the five most beautiful lakes in China selected by China National Geography magazine. Food will have to be prepared in Lhasa since the camp hotel does not provide decent meals.

Accommodation: Camp Hotel near Tashidor Island (usually about 10 people sharing a room)

Day 05 Namtso – Lhasa (B/L)

This morning you may trek along the Tashidor Island for 1 hour to appreciate the beauty of the lake.
Transfer back to Lhasa by private vehicle.

Day 06 Lhasa - Gyantse (B/L/D) 

Drive to Gyantse, visit Yangdrok Lake on the way. Known as a holy lake, the view of Yangdrok Lake is impressive together with the snow-covered peaks in surrounding areas. Upon arrival in Gyantse,pay a visit to the Perkhor Chode monastery.

Day 07 Gyantse – Shigatse - Lhasa (B/L)
Tibetan monks
After breakfast,Leave Gyantse, the second largest city of Tibet and the capital city of Tsedang and transfer to Shigatse. Today's highlight is Tashilhunpo Monastery. Transfer back to Lhasa.

Day 08 Depart Lhasa (B)
