Lhasa - Damxung County - Tsedang Travel Guide - Gyantse - Shigatse Description :The weather becomes relatively warm during summer in Tibet and the oxygen reach to its uppermost level. For those who would like some trekking experiences in Tibet but not sure about their physical capacity at the high elevation, trekking around Lhasa during summer time will be a great experience. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by the guide and be transferred to your hotel in the city center.
Visits : Potala Palace, Barkhor Street, Jokhang Temple
After breakfast visit Potala Palace which is the symbol of Lhasa. In the afternoon pay a visit to Jokhang Temple, the first Buddhist temple in Lhasa and China's key cultural relic for protection and a world cultural heritage. Then enjoy a stroll along the Barkhor Street nearby which is the favorite place for all visitors.
Visits : Drepung Monastery
Today pay a visit to Drepung Monastery (Vault of the Crops in Tibetan). It is famous for the debates on Buddhist doctrines frequently held, which is also known as the Tibetan Library. In the afternoon you will go to Sera Monastery and Norblingka.
Visits : Namtso
After enjoying your breakfast you will be driven to Damxung County. In the afternoon cross over Naganla Pass and start to trek to Namtso Lake which will take about 4 hours. Namtso Lake, the second largest saltwater lake, is one of the five most beautiful lakes in China selected by China National Geography magazine.
After enjoying your breakfast you may trek along the Tashidor Island for 1 hour to appreciate the beauty of the lake. In the afternoon you will be transferred to Lhasa by private car.
This morning you will be driven to Zetang Town. After that, you will have the chance to visit Yangdrok Lake. Known as a holy lake, the view of Yangdrok Lake is impressive together with the snow-covered peaks in surrounding areas. In the afternoon you will be transferred to Gyantse by private car. After that, visit Palkor Monastery.
Visits : Tashilhunpo Monastery
After enjoying your breakfast you will be driven to Shigatse. You will visit the Tashilhumpo Monastery, one of the four greatest monasteries of the Gelugpa School of Tibetan Buddhism. In the afternoon you will be transferred to Lhasa by private car.
