Day 2 - Beijing -> Urumqi   (B)

Today you will be transferred to the airport for the flight to Urumqi.

After lunch enjoy a half day free at leisure.






Day 3 - Urumqi -> Turpan   (B, L)

Visits : Jiaohe Ancient City, Turpan Museum

Today This morning take a train to Turpan. In the afternoon pay a visit to Emin minaret, Jiaohe Ancient City and Turpan Museum to feel the special charming of the city.




Day 4 - Turpan   (B, L)

Visits : Astana Ancient Graves, The Thousand-Buddha Caves of Bezklik, The Ancient City of Gaochang, The Flaming Mountain

Today enjoy full day visit to the Flaming Mountains, Bazeklik Buddhist Caves, Astana Tombs and Gaochang Old Town.




Day 5 - Turpan -> Korla   (B, L)

After breakfast you will be driven to Korla. After lunch take a boat ride on Bosten Lake.




Day 6 - Korla -> Kuqa   (B, L)

Today you will be driven to Kuqa. In the afternoon Kuqa was the centre of the ancient Quici Kingdom, one of the most powerful Buddhist kingdoms in central Asia. Visit the ancient city of Subashi and take a walk through the old town area. Then visit Kuqa museum.


Day 7 - Kuqa   (B, L, D)

After breakfast we visit the Kyzil Buddha Caves; they are among the earliest of Buddhist cave sites in China and show strong design styling from Persia, India and even central Asian and Greco-Roman influences. In the afternoon pay a visit to the Kyzil-gaha beacon tower. Founded in 2nd century BC, it is an ancient military communication system on the Silk Road.


Day 8 - Kuqa -> Hetian   (B, L, D)

Today you will be driven to Khotan. After lunch enjoy a half day free at leisure.






Day 9 - Hetian   (B, L)

This morning drive to Qiraa County Damoko Site .In Damoko Village we will visit the Little Monastery Museum. We will see many perfect frescos with Kandahar style, smallest monastery in the world (4.5 sq.m) and many other perfect national treasures.
After lunch back to the city and visit local family workshops of tie-dyed silk jade carving, silk carpet factory.



Day 10 - Hetian   (B, L)

After enjoying your breakfast visit the ancient Buddhist Rawaq Pagoda Ruins which were built in Tang dynasty 6th century AD and are a combination of Persian and Indian architectural style. Here you will also be able to enjoy camel riding. After lunch visit the local Uygur silk village of Jiya. Here you will see traditional Uygur silk production called Atlas. Khotan is renowned for its silks, carpets and jade, which are considered the finest in China. We will visit a jade factory.

Day 11 - Hetian -> Yarkent -> Kashgar   (B, L, D)

Today you will be driven to Yarkent. After that, visit the Ruins of the King's Mausoleum at Yarkent. Yarkent is mostly populated by Uigur ethnic people. Yarkent was the capital of the ancient Uigur Karakhanid Dynasty, and during the silk road trade period it was called the spice route to and from Persia and Afganistan. After having lunch you will be transferred to Kashgar by private car.


Day 12 - Kashgar   (B, L, D)

After enjoying your breakfast drive to Karakul Lake (396km round trip). On the way you can enjoy the scenery of the magnificent Karakoram highway.




Day 13 - Kashgar -> Urumqi   (B, L, D)

Abakh Khoja Mausoleum

Visits : Abakh Khoja Mausoleum, Id Kah Mosque

After enjoying your breakfast you will spend the entire morning strolling around the Sunday market. This afternoon visit the largest Idkah Mosque and Apakh Hoja Tomb. Then you will be transferred to the airport and board the flight to Urumqi.




Day 14 - Urumqi -> Beijing   (B)

After enjoying your breakfast you will be transferred to the airport and take flight to Beijing. In the afternoon enjoy a half day free at leisure.






Day 15 - Beijing   (B)

I saw dinosaur fossils in the Turpan Museum. So, dinosaurs lived in the desert, too?

Paintings in the Thousand-Buddha Caves of Bezklik are all too badly damaged to be viewed properly... Those in Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes are much better.
