Day 1 - Beijing   (L)

Hutong Rickshaw in Beijing, China

Arrive in Beijing in the morning. Our guide will pick you up at the airport and drive you to the hotel for a rest. At noon, you will enjoy a Hutong Rickshaw Tour to see the typical old residence houses in Beijing and enjoy a household lunch with a local family. It is a nice experience for you to blend in with the local Beijinger´s life. The rest of the day is free time for you either to stroll around the street or be driven back to the hotel. Today´s feature: recover from the jet lag, blend in with the locals in Beijing and experience the city pace leisurely.

Day 2 - Beijing   (B, L, D)

Visits : Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City

After breakfast at the hotel, our guide will meet you at the hotel lobby and guide you to Tiananmen Square, the biggest city square in the world. You will get on the gate tower of Tiananmen to get a view of the square. Then you will visit the well known Forbidden City, one of the five most famous palaces in the world where 24 emperors of Ming and Qing Dynasties lived and ruled for over 500 years. After that, enjoy a good lunch in one of our well selected restaurant outside Forbidden City. In the afternoon, go to Jingshan Park to get a perfect panoramic view of the Forbidden City and take good photos. After that, you can freely walk around the popular Shichahai area (the old part of Beijing) and the Beihai park (enjoy a boat cruise if you would like to). Lotus market in Shichahai area is also a good place to explore. In the evening, enjoy the famous Beijing Roast Duck for dinner. Then you will be transferred back to the hotel. Today´s feature: The well-arranged route to visit the top World Heritage sites in Beijing and explore both the local culture and food options.

Day 3 - Beijing   (B, L)

Jinshanling Great Wall of Beijing

Today you will be picked up after breakfast in your hotel and head to Jinshanling Great Wall. It is ranked top on the list of Great Walls in Beijing with fewer tourists but more amazing scenery in spring compared to Badaling Great Wall and Mutianyu Great Wall. You may ascend the Wall by cable car for which you should pay by yourself or just hike up the great wall on foot. After touring the Great Wall and visiting one local jade factory on the way back to the downtown area, you will visit the famous Liulichang Antique Street. Do some walking along the street and buy some antiques if you like but you should be aware of the fact that most of the things on the street are not real antiques. So they could be very cheap. You may bargain to get a bottom price. Then you will have dinner on your own. Please ask the guide for good dinner choices. The guide will be very happy to offer suggestions. After dinner we will send you to Tiandi Theater to watch the Acrobatic Show. After the show, you will be dropped off at the hotel. Today´s feature: enjoy the amazing spring scenery of Jinshanling Great Wall as well as popular evening show.

Day 4 - Beijing   (B, L)

Fragrance Hill of Beijing in spring

In the morning, you will firstly visit the Summer Palace, which used to be a summer resort of Empress Dowager Cixi. You will take a leisure walk inside and enjoy a short boat ride on the Kunming Lake. After that you will visit a local Pearl shop along the lake. Foxiang Pavilion (the pavilion of Buddhist fragrance) standing on Wanshou Hill (Longevity Hill) is the highlight in Summer Palace. You will ascend the Pavilion to enjoy a bird eye view of the garden and the lake.In the afternoon, go ahead to the Fragrance Hill . Fragrance Hill, the former imperial garden, has become a well-known forest park which boasts lots of ancient relics as well as a huge amount of old trees. Today´s feature: explore the former imperial gardens from the best angle.

Day 5 - Beijing -> Xian   (B, L)

In the morning you will travel to the Temple of Heaven. If you get up early enough, you may join in local people´s morning exercise there. Every morning, senior people will practice Tai Chi there. Some will dance, some will sing, and some others will take a walk, bringing their pet birds. In the afternoon, take the flight to Xian. Reference Flight: MU2110 13:00~15:05. Our Xian driver will pick you up from the airport and drive you to your hotel to take a rest. In the evening, you will enjoy the fabulous Tang Dynasty Dinner Show (8:30 p.m. to 9:40 p.m). After the show, be dropped off at the hotel. Today´s feature: participate in local activities and watch evening show.

Day 6 - Xian   (B, L)

Visits : Terra-Cotta Warriors, City Wall, The Big Wild Goose Pagoda

In the morning you will travel to the magnificent Terracotta Warriors Museum. You will be guided around the museum to see the huge underground project in ancient China, which is considered one of the eight wonders in the world. Have lunch after visiting the museum. In the afternoon,  take a look at the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. This pagoda is inside a temple which was built to house the Buddhist sutras brought from India by a famous Tang Dynasty monk named Xuan Zang. His travel story was made into a widely known fiction Journey to the West which is acknowledged as one of the four classic novels in ancient China. After that, we will drive you back and then you will  tour the ancient city wall. If the weather is good on the day, you can enjoy a beautiful sunset and have a look at the surrounding city area. You may also ride a bike along the city wall which is quite an interesting thing to try. The rent fee of the bike should be paid by yourself. When darkness approaches, red lanterns will all be lit up and these lanterns offer a very gorgeous night view. Today´s feature: Get to know the life story of Emperor Qinshihuang, the first emperor of feudal China and the owner of all these life-sized terracotta warriors and horses, and why he built an underground kingdom for his afterlife.

Day 7 - Xian -> Hangzhou   (B, L, D)

In the morning, we will pick you up at your hotel after breakfast. Then you will be transferred to the airport and board the flight to Hangzhou. Reference Flight: HU7861 08:20~10:20 After arriving in Hangzhou, a welcome dinner will be served at Fortune House (Zhi Fu Men). Fortune House is decorated in European style. It offers delicious Chinese food at reasonable prices. It is nice experience for you to taste the local delicacy and seasonal local cuisines. We will then drive you to the West Lake. You will have a leisure walk around the lake to see the local famous sweet-scented osmanthus flowers which are in full blossom during autumn. You may take a lake cruise or or an electric cart to tour around the World Heritage amazing lake. The cost of the cruise or the cart is not included. Have dinner at Qing Teng Tea House where you can spend your night there enjoying tea and local snacks, listening to ancient music of China, etc. If the weather is good and you are in the mood for hanging out to appreciate the autumn moonlit night, you can walk nearby to watch the West Lake Musical Fountain. Then you will be transferred back to your hotel Today´s feature: Blend in with traditional Chinese culture to appreciate the seasonal flowers, delicacy and moonlit night.

Day 8 - Hangzhou -> Shanghai   (B, L)

Visits : Yuyuan Garden

Take a bullet train from Hangzhou to Shanghai in the morning after you have your breakfast at the hotel. When you arrive in Shanghai, you will then go to Yuyuan Garden. This garden originally belonged to Pan Yunduan who was an official of Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Pan built the garden for his parents as a place for them to enjoy a tranquil and happy time in their old age. The garden is a typical Chinese classic garden-style architectural complex. Later on, walk around Chenghuangmiao Bazaar. There is an authentic local flavor about this busy market area. After lunch, travel to Pudong for a visit to the Oriental Pearl TV Tower. Ascend to the 263-meter-high helmet for a panoramic view of the Huangpu River and the city. Then move on to Tianzifang. With high speed of modernization, lanes which have great memories about old Shanghai are gradually replaced by skyscrapers. Tianzifang keeps the precious scenes of old Shanghai but also a little bit different. In the evening, we will send you to the bund and enjoy a wonderful cruise over Huangpu River to appreciate the night view of the modern Shanghai. Then send you back to your hotel.
