The museum is specialized in collecting, researching and displaying red sandalwood art works, as well as classical furniture. With an area of 5,000 square meters the museum combines antique flavor and modern glamour. China Red Sandalwood Museum itself is a grand and perfect artwork.
Red Sandalwood: or red sanders, is a species of tree in the family Fabaceae, which yields valuable timber. Its texture is hard, which makes it excellent material for making furniture, numerous basso-relievo, sculpture-in-the-rounds, fretworks give full display to the charms of red sandalwood. It's abroadly used in classic Chinese furnitures, especially during Ming and Qing dynasties, and only royal members or rich people can possess of these furniture, because of the material rareness and complicated carving technics.
