I am currently in this hotel as I write contemplating whether to check out today or wait till tommorow. I was originally staying at the ritz carlton but shortened my stay there because breakfast and internet were not included and when I saw this hotel was rated 5 stars on some sites and after reading some reviews on this site, I thought I'd spend the rest of my time here thinking how bad can it be...big mistake. I don't know what the standards are of the guys who rated this hotel highly, but It's my first time in a Ramada and on the basis of this hotel I will NEVER stay in a ramada hotel aywhere in the world ever again. It has turned what had been a lovely trip to Guangzhou into a miserable one all because I tried to save a few quid!I am a big lover of hotel breakfasts, to me that's the whole point of a hotel but the breakfast is crap it's just cheap processed stuff, it's not worth waking up for! The staff don't speak english, the air con doesn't get cold in my room, they don't clean the rooms properly, they don't change your sheets, I had to check to see they changed the bathrobe! they don't give you new soap and the location is poor, everything is all chinese even the remote. I pressed the button which lights up the sign outside to say do not disturb, Yet a chambermaid walks in to clean the room and wakes me up. The staff are bad at helping because their english is poor..... I asked for Ice I had to explain what ice was. Now i realise the value of the ritz. I am so annoyed at myself for being here in the first place that I can't be bothered to complain. That's partly also due to the fact that there are tell tale signs all over the hotel that I am probably wasting my time trying to complain, these are not people that understand good hospitality, I mean how many things am I going to complain about. The only good thing i have to say for it is the bed is comfortable and the free internet is actually fast. But if you are actually here for more than a day, the extra saving is not worth it and definitely not on fair nights! There is nothing worse than being in a hotel and being stressed because of the hotel!It's a basic no frills hotel, it's probably ok on regular nights @ 728 yuan, but on fair nights they charge 1950 yuan that's a rip off, I am better off paying an extra 800 for the ritz and that's what I intend to do for the rest of my stay!Would not recommend it to my enemy!! More
