Taohua (Peach Blossom) Island

Taohua Island(Peach Blossom Island, 桃花岛)  to most of Chinese people is a dreamland.
 
Taohua (Peach Blossom) Island,anciently called Taohua Mountain（桃花山）, is one of the islands in Zhoushan Archipelago located to the south of Shenjiamen Fishing Harbor, with an area of 43 square kilometers. 

In the past, its beauty was unknown to the tourists. The high mountains, exotic reefs, golden beach, blue sea, dense hills and verdant trees are all seductive beauty elements. Its green coverage has reached over 75 percent currently, thus it is also called “Arboretum on Island”. 

By the way, Taohua Port（桃花港） is the first deep harbor and Anqi Peak（安期峰） is the highest peak of Zhoushan islands. Baique Temple（白雀寺） was said to be the self-cultivation place of Kwan-yin. 

The island is comprised of six scenic areas which contain more than 60 attractions all together. The popularities that it has gained mainly attribute to Jin Yong（金庸） also known as Louis Cha and his novels martial arts. It has been a popular location for shooting movies and TV series based on Cha’s novels. As the TV series “The Legend of the Eagle-shooting Heroes”（射雕英雄传） hot played across the country, a theme park named “City of Eagle-shooting Heroes” was founded on the island. Starting from 2004, Jin Yong Martial Art Festival was held annually here. It offers wonderful performance and competitions of martial arts, which feasts tourists'eyes utmost.

 

    

Transportation: alternatives to Taohua Island
1. The non-stop bus from north bus station of Ningbo to Taohua Island, and roughly more than 2 hours may be taken to arrive in Taohua Island. 

2. There are the frequent regular cruises to Taohua Island from Ningbo, Shenjiamen, Dinghai, Putuo Mountain and Zhujiajian.
