Nanshan Scenic Area

Nanshan scenic area of Zhenjiang in Jiangsu province is the province-level scenic area featured by the natural and cultural landscapes, and 2.5 kilometers away from the downtown of Zhenjiang city. Nanshan scenic area covers 18 square kilometers and developed area is 2.67 square kilometers. Nanshan scenic area is entitled of Urban Forest and featured by the depth, simplicity, elegance and beauty.

Nanshan Scenic area was at the peak time from South and North dynasties. In the past, there were many anchorites and famous people. The author or editor of Wenxidiaolong, which was the first book that have the well system of literature criticism system, Liu Xie lived here under the invitation of Prince of Zhaoming. The Prince of Zhaoming stayed here edited Chinese first literature florilegium.

In 1980, many attractions such as Zhaoyin Temple, Zhulin Temple, Huanghe Mountain and Jiuhuashan Mountain (the same name as Jiuhua Buddhist Mountain in Anhui province) were gradually restored. In the scenic area, the scenes are very dense. The thick wood, the slender bamboos, the deep valley and the beautiful water, the running springs and streams are also discovered there. There are more than 160 kinds of woods and more than 70 kinds of animals. Many new attractions are restored in succession.
