Xu Beihong Memorial Museum

Xu Beihong Memorial Museum is located in Yi Garden in Yixing City, Jiangsu, China. It was constructed in memory of Xu Beihong, a great master of art in China. The museum was opened to the in Oct. 26th, 1988. Xu Beihong was born in 1895 in Yixing City. He was a great artist and art educationist in Chinese modern history. He was one of the founders of Chinese modern art. He was the first president of China’s Central Academy of Fine Arts and the former president of Chinese Artists Association. Meanwhile he was a patriot who committed himself to the development of art and art education in China. He was quite talented and created many masterpieces. He is admired by people due to his contributions and accomplishments.

Many artworks of Xu Beihong together with those of his students and other masters are displayed in the museum. There is also biographical introduction of Xu Beihong. Since its opening, the museum has received many celebrities. Some former national leaders, such as Li Ruihuan, Qiaoshi, and Song Ping have visited the museum. Some famous artists, such as Qian Shaowu, Liao Jingwen, and Yi Shoushi also have paid a visit to the museum. Besides, the museum now has been granted as the Patriotic Education Base of Jiangsu Province. It is a good place to enjoy the modern art of China.
