Yuchengyi (Ancient Post Museum)

Ancient Post Museum belongs to the cultural relic under the state-class protection. This mail stop was constructed in early Ming dynasty, is one of the well-preserved ancient mail stops in China. After the restoration, it was chosen to be the only post museum of China. China is one of the countries that earliest established the organizational and systematic mail transportation. Mail stop in ancient China was officially and exclusively made by government and used for military information transfer and the military supply transportation. In different dynasties, the mail stop was emphasized too much and even thought to be the lifeline of nation. In 223 BC, a hathpace fabricated here and the mail stop also established here. Hence historically this place was officially named Gaoyou(in literally translation in English means highland mail stop). In China, Gaoyou was the only zone closely connected with mail in history. This is the only special post museum in China. The original architecture of Ancient Post Museum is very grand. The halls, storage house, corridor house, horse-immortal memorial and the front drum tower are all protected well. Some experts deem them as the rare treasure of China.
