Yu Village, Travel to Yangshuo, Chinese Traditional Structure

Located 2 kilometers to the west of Xingping Town and the most famous ancient village along the Lijiang River, the Yu (Fishing) Village was established in the Zhengde Reign of the Qing Dynasty (fifteenth century AD). The best epoch was in the Qing Dynasty, most of the houses seen today were built then, and the residents were mostly government officials and wealthy merchants. The well-preserved old houses are typical old villas in southern China, but their architectural styles and furniture are reflecting of class and identity of the people, who were also afraid of being entered by thieves, so they made many burglarproof designs. In addition to these large and majestic mansions of wealthy family, there are also ancient houses for common people's living.

The village is having excellent natural scenery with verdant mountains and limpid water. World’s celebrities have welcomed it. In 1921, Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the special President of the Republic of China and the founding father of modern China, knowing Yangshuo's beautiful scenery, had specifically visited Fishing Village when he was commanding the Northern Military Expedition. Former US President Bill Clinton toured the village in July 1998 when he was visiting China.
