Red-Crowned Crane Natural Reserve

 

Red-crowned crane natural reserve was established in 1983, there are a large hectare of reeds and the rich grasses. This is the natural and mostly wild area. It is the best place for animals to live. This is the first sea beach-style natural reserve in China. In 1983, it was approved by Jiangsu provincial authorities. It is the second hometown of red-crowned crane that is the first-class rare animals in China. Each year in Oct, there are many groups of red-crowned cranes flying here for over-wintering living from Zhalong natural reserve of Qiqihr in Heilongjiang Province. At most there are more than 1000 cranes and at least there are more than 300. It is the world-largest collection area of the wild red-crowned cranes, and there are also tens of thousands of wild gooses and ducks living here. In 1993 it was approved to be the nation-class natural reserve by State Council, meanwhile it was also selected to be the member of international wild animal protection network of UNESCO. In the reserve, the rare animals are nurtured and domesticated here, especially the red-crowned cranes. There are also the rare animal sample museum mainly exhibits the diversities of cranes. There are also other animal samples here.
