Miss Wuguniang Theme Park

 

 

A sad love story happened in Xitang in late Qing Dynasty. Wuguniang, or the fifth daughter of the Mr. Yang, the landlord in Tangdong Village in Xitang water town, had been falling in love with Xu Atian, a male servant. This love affair was strongly opposed by her stepmother and her elder brother. Wuguniang was death under their feudal persecution. At that time in China, man and woman of different classes could not be a marital match, and their parents must decided their marriage. In later times, Wuguniang's moving love story has become a pastoral love song, which has been popular in Xitang for about a hundred years. The local musical "Wuguniang" has been awarded the Cultural Prize of the Seventh China Art Festival.

According to this sad love story, Xitang built Miss Wuguniang Theme Park, located at the western entrance of Xitang scenic area. The park has an area of about 3,000 square meters. The highlights here are the beautiful sculpture of Miss Wuguniang, the Only-tile Kiosk and the stage on the water. The Only-tile Kiosk represents the one and only love of Wuguniang to the male servant. The top of the kiosk built of a large single tile, which was specially made for it by servant Xu for his lover Wuguniang. A bell is inside of the kiosk carved the words and images of their pure love.
