Actually, Wuzhen town itself is a large museum of woodcarving, nearly each house and door are the quintessential articles of woodcarving. This house is the best representative of Wuzhen town. Especially the themed carvings with figure, flying birds, running animals on doors and windows are the excellent show of its uniqueness. The carving techniques are comprised of the round carving, flat carving, and transparent carving and hollow-out carving. Currently, in its main house and sideward house, there are a lot of treasured ancient woodcarvings exhibited.

The themes of woodcarving are abundant such as Eight Immortals Goes Across Sea, General Guo Ziyi’s Congratulations on an Elder’s Birthday, Fish Hunting, Cricket Fighting, Playing Gong and Drum and so on. Some traditional carvings such as plum, orchid, bamboo and chrysanthemum as well as squirrel eating grapes and flying dragon &phoenix are also available easily. The woodcarving masterpiece themed with General Guo Ziyi showing his birthday congratulations to the senior is lifelike. The work has 4 meters long and 40 centimeters wide. And it is made of a large camphor-tree board. Once some businessmen wanted to buy this at the price of more than 10,000 yuan, but it was too rare to be sold.
