Shuilongtang

Shuilongtang was a kind of south-style housing layout in location and formation. Famous as its history and golden waterway, the section from Nanchang Bridge to Qingming Bridge is the essential part of ancient Grand Canal. The houses on both sides are of white walls and dark tiles. The stone streets along the water and the stone port are also in order.

These houses generally are divided into two parts, the front one for shop and behind for living. Some backyards of houses are directly linking with the port of Grand Canal. All of these houses were built a century ago, even longer. They were built and designed by artificers of different times, but their styles and standards were unified and diversified.

Shuilongtang is a pride of local people living on both sides of Grand Canal, and through this area, you can touch the history and life of Wuxi, and local customs and folk diversities are both attainable here. It is the living art corridor in east of the world.
