Luoxingzhou (罗星洲) is a tiny island on the four-square-kilometer Tongli Lake. It is famous for its romantic misty scenery and rainy sound, which have been among the best things to experience in Tongli town. According to some historical documents, the first buildings on the island were from the Yuan Dynasty and rebuilt in during the Qing Dynasty. A long causeway is built along the perimeter of Luoxingzhou. The southern part is Chinese classical garden while the northern part monastery area. Two 200 years old trees stood near the ferry pier. Walk inland, you can see the great gate of a courtyard with a Temple of Lord Guan. Behind it, is the large garden and then you see the main attraction on Luoxingzhou Island – the Kwan-yin Temple. The grand and majestic temple has two levels with extending eaves. A wide corridor is built surrounding the first floor's exterior. A small pavilion is seen in the backyard of the temple. The garden, located at the south, is having a beautiful crescent pool, in which you can see old kiosk, small boat and tiny bridge. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It will be excellent to walk along the causeway on the island coast during a late summer or early autumn day, see breeze blows the reeds, falling willows, lotus pool and far-off water scenery. However, the most overwhelming thing is listening to the rhythm of falling rain, which it was a great enjoyment for ancient Chinese litterateurs. When the raindrops falling slowly on leaves and tiles, is like a sweet, romantic waltz tune; but when it rains heavily, flamboyant but sorrowful symphonic sound is heard as the big drops hit all the thing on the island. 

 

 

 

 

 

It was a sad story that in April 1938 the brutal Japanese forces burnt all the trees on Luoxingzhou. They felt that these were blocked the view so the Chinese forces attacked them. The government of Tongli town managed to rebuild Luoxingzhou Island in 1996 and in April 1998, it was opened to tourists.
