Wenxing Bridge

Wenxing Bridge (文兴桥) across the Yuxi is in Taishun. It is 46.2 meters long, 5 meters wide, 11.5 meters high from water level. It is stacked wooden arcade bridge, with a span of 29.6 meters. Wenxing Bridge was first built in 1857, and rebuilt in 1930. It was kept very well and has the most favorable circumstances of the extant corridor bridges in Taishun. In 1988, it was listed as the third series of important cultural relic sites.

Wenxing Bridge has a special structure. The asymmetry makes the bridge stand out from many bridges. It was said that this bridge was built by a man from Jinhua, when building, his apprentice was afraid of the unstable of the bridge, so he drove more and more nails into one point of the bridge, which made the bridge tilt in the direction of fewer-nail-bridge.

The next legend is that when building the bridge, two masters built the bridge from two sides with different opinions, so when they met, they found that they don’t have the same height, but it was too late to reform just be a sloping closure.

These two stories seem specious, maybe they are the imagination by people, but we don’t know. Only stream water under the bridge can explain the mystery !
