Taishun Corridor BridgeAn out-of-the-way place, Taishun located in the south part of Zhejiang Province that plays an important role in the history of bridge architecture.
 

So-called “the most beautiful corridor bridge” East River Bridge is in the Sixi Town. Disappeared in the central plains in Song Dynasty, the wooden corridor bridge while are well-preserved in Taishun Zhuxiang Town. Other famous bridges are : Beijian Bridge in Sixi Town; Xuejia Bridge, Yongqian Bridge, Liuzhai Bridge in Sankui Town ; Yuwen Bridge, Santiao Bridge in Zhouling; Wenyuan Bridge in Xiaocun Town and so on. Because of the numerous bridges and manifold patterns, Taishun is crowned as “the hometown of the porch bridges”. According to the latest statistics, there are more than 500 old bridges in Taishun. And more than 32 wooden corridor bridges are kept well, which have a prominent position and described as “long rainbow drinking the stream, crescent emerging from the clouds”.

Now, there are six corridor bridges of wood-beam-arch bridges, which some have their own features, such as wooden double-decker bridge Liuzhai Bridge; the unilateral opening as the gallery housing Dongyang Bridge and so on. In fact, corridor bridges are not only a tool for getting across river, it also can be used as a rest stop or a post house or other things. So someone said Corridor Bridge represents a culture, a native feeling, it was a carrier of politics, economy, culture, folklore in the south part of Zhejiang during Ming and Qing Dynasties.
