Suzhou Museum
Suzhou Museum is quite near to the World Cultural Heritage Suzhou Classical Gardens and Suzhou Zhongwang Mansion of Taiping Heavenly Kingdom(太平天国忠王府).
Architecture integrated with environment just seems like the connections between houses and their inside and outside gardens. The tall walls as screen separate the themed garden of Suzhou Museum from classical gardens nearby；but meanwhile，a small over-bridge above a stream quietly connects two gardens. However, the designs of these gardens are not mostly learnt from the ancient similar designs, because Ieoh Ming Pei intends to express Chinese landscape with modern style and conception.

The interior room of Suzhou Museum is comprised of a series of different but diversified rooms. The whole museum is the mixture of modernity and tradition. It exhibits the arts and antiques of classical times and modern times from Ming and Qing Dynasties to modern period.

This great architect tends to subtly expressing Chinese native spirit via designing this museum when constructing this modern architecture. The whole outside surface of museum is traditionally painted in white and roof of museum is covered with grey tiles. Both shows the traditional color used in city construction of Suzhou and the importance of classical gardens in Suzhou. Meanwhile, Ieoh Ming Pei also hopes his designed museum can promote and stimulate the consideration tide of Chinese particular modern architectural design in younger generation.
