Canglang Pavilion

Canglang Pavilion (Blue Wave Pavilion) was originally the residential house for the noble caste of China's Five Dynasties Period (about 1,100 years before present). It was then purchased by the poet Su Xunruan (1008 - 1048). He built a pavilion called Canglang along a small river and wrote "The Record of the Canglang Pavilion" for which the present name of the garden came from the literature.

From the northern gate, walking pass the stone bridge and entering the garden, you can see the winding corridors on the both side of you sight. Verdant trees are distributed densely on the low hills in the middle of the garden. After you walking along the west corridor, you reach the little garden in the southwest of the Canglang Pavilion and see several tall and old maple trees. On the wall of this tiny garden embedded the images of some Chinese historical figures and stories. In the eastern side, you can see the Qingxiang (Fragrance) Hall and the Temple of 500 Sages. The latter was built in 1827, it carved many the images and life stories of local celebrities. Going southwards, Cui Ling Long Hall and the Pavilion of Viewing Mountain stand in the tranquil atmosphere, and then to the east, a series of courtyards and the Ming Dao Hall can be seen. The hall is the largest building in the Canglang Pavilion scenery with elegant layout, it looks the mountain and forest in its north face, and the famous Canglang Pavilion is here. Go down the hill, you walk on the corridor and you can see the pretty fish swim in the river outside the pavilion area.

The overall architecture of the Canglang Pavilion is of China's Song Dynasty style, natural with excellent simplicity. Tour the Canglang Pavilion and feel the great Suzhou garden in China is a happy experience. The Canglang Pavilion was enlisted the UNESCO's World Cultural Heritage in 2000.
