Nanshan Cultural Tourism Area

The tourism area is located in Nanshan of Sanya City of Hainan Island, 40 kilometers away from the city center. Nanshan Cultural Tourism Area (南山文化旅游区) includes Nanshan Buddhist Cultural Park, which is to demonstrate China's traditional Buddhist culture. The religious philosophy teaches people the profound meaning of life, do good to others and the whole world and how to attain spiritual enlightenment. Constructions such as Nanshan Monastery, Nanhai (South China Sea) Kwan-yin Statue, Kwan-yin Cultural House, Shi-fang Pagoda Forest, Buddhist Cultural Exchange Center and Vegetarian Shopping Street are the tourist attractions here to make you learn more about Chinese Buddhist history and architecture.

Nanshan Gold-Jade Kwan-yin Statue consists of four parts, the golden Kwan-yin statue, Buddhist holy light, Treasure Lotus with Thousand Leaves and the base made of sandalwood. The whole statue is height about 4 meters. It uses over 100 kg of gold, 120 karats of diamond, jade and many other precious stones, with stunning traditional Chinese artistic technique. It is amazingly to see different colors and textures at different angles.

Admission: 150 RMB for adult and 78 for children between 1.2 and 1.4 meters tall. Free for children shorter than 1.2 m.

Transportation: Take bus at Jie Fang Road, downtown Sanya, as far as Nanshan. Or take Xin Guo Line (新国线) tour bus to go to Nanshan.
