Luhuitou Peak Park

Literally, Luhuitou is "The Peak of a Deer Turns Its Head and Looks Back"; the park is three kilometers to the south of downtown Sanya. It is a peak located by the side of the sea of 275.1 meters above sea level. Once upon the time, a cruel rich man wanted to take some precious deer horns, which were excellent to human's health. He forced a young ethnic minority man, Ah Hei, to hunt deer on the mountain. One day, he saw a very beautiful deer, which was being chased by a dotted leopard. Ah Hei killed the fierce animal and chased the deer. It took nine whole days and nights, as well as to climb over 99 mountains. The pretty deer came to the edge of a reef cliff, which was located along the Sanya Bay. At this time, Ah Hei prepared to shoot arrow, but the deer returned and looked him lovingly, and changed itself to a beautiful girl. She walked slowly to him and he laid down his arms. Ah Hei married her. She invited a band of deer brothers to defeat the wicked rich man. The happy couple lived a joyful and diligent life. They and their offspring made the cliff area became a beautiful manor. It got the name we are using today, "Luhuitou".

Today, it is still a beautiful peak garden. A 12-meter-tall sculpture erected according to the lovely legend. Sometimes, Sanya is called the Deer City. On the peak, you can command an endless view of the South China Sea and if you return, you may see the panoramic scene of Sanya, too. 

Long and winding country path in the forest, Halley's Comet Viewing Station, Pavilion of Listening Waves, Lovers' Island, Deer's House, Cottages of Ethnic Li, Turtle's Heaven and Fairy Fish Pool will make you not want to return home. Moreover, pretty and colorful flowers will blossom all year round. You can also taste the Hainan Island's specialty – red coconut.

In Luhuitou Bay, the parrotfish are swimming leisurely, odd shaped crabs, common-looking beche-de-mer and many kinds of tropical fish are the things must-see.
