City Wall

The city wall was constructed during the 3rd reigning year of Emperor Hongwu (1370) of the Ming dynasty. It is comprised of six fortified gates, the northern and southern entrances each having one, and the eastern and western entrances each having two gates. The wall is an impressive twelve meters high and has a perimeter of 6 thousand meters, and is surrounded by a 4 meter wide and 4 meter deep mote. Walking along the wall, travelers will also have a chance to step back into history and look out through one of the 72 watch towers located along the wall, not to mention the 3,000 battlements on the wall, better known as defensive posts where the defenders of the city could shoot weapons upon the intruders coming from below.
