Xuedou Mountain

The Xuedou Mountain Scenic Area is situated in the north-west of Xikou Town, designated as a national-grade AAAA tourist area. 20 kilometers away from Ningbo City, it enjoys convenient transportation, beautiful scenery and mild climate. Early in the Han Dynasty, it had been crowned as “a fairyland on the sea”. It has now been a dazzling pearl shining in East China hot tourist route.

The resort covers a scenic area of 140 square kilometers. It consists of three main sections which are Xikou Town, Xuedou Mountain and Below Pavilion Lake. Every section has its own attractions to the number of 58 in all. Scenes of humanity, nature and Buddhist culture shine with brilliance and reflect pleasantly with one another. 

The Xuedou Mountain is the highest peak of the ranges of the Siming Mountain, with an altitude of 800 meters above sea level. For the mountain has a breast peak, the peak has a hole, and a stream of milky white water comes out from the hole. The water was later named Milky Spring and the hole was named Xuedou (snow-white hole) as a result. Thus the mountain got its name.

The Below Pavilion Lake highlights the beauty of the water and mountain oriented landscapes. In 1940s, Chiang Kai-shek brought forward an idea of building a man-made lake around the river wall, but it fizzled on account of the wars. After the founding of new China, the Water Conservancy Bureau selected the location of White Dragon pond as the site for the lake, which is today’s Below Pavilion Lake. The tranquil environment, the natural sights of wooded mountain and the crystal-clear water give you a lot of enjoyment. If you are going to have holidays or to recuperate in a resort, it is anyhow highly recommended.
