Chinese Ancient Fishing Port

The Chinese Ancient Fishing Port – Shipu (石浦), located in Xiangshan Port in Ningbo. It had been an important coastal town in southeast China since ancient time. It acted as a military defense in Ming Dynasty and now has been a fishing port at the national level, a trading port opened to the outside world, and a famous historical and cultural town in Zhejiang Province.

The old city was built by hillside with winding streets and deep alleys. The charms of its shops and houses reside in its rural and Confucian styles of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, which have played the leading role among a series of old streets of this kind. 

Shipu has fresh air, beautiful scenery and rich culture of fishery, merchants and sea defense. Its buildings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, carvings on cliffs, Shipu Street, The Fishing Village of China, wooded islands and exotic reefs, Xuelang Sands, fresh seafood, "three-step Beach in March" and "China Fishing Festival" all show the unique characteristics of the fishing port.

It is not only the calm harbor desired by the sailing vessels on the rough seas, but also the fresh oasis that the people in noisy city dreamt of. It has been described as “An Everlasting Eastern Island”, “Seamounts of Fairy" with graces.
