Nanhu Lake Park

Nanning City has long been known as a garden city; While, in this garden city shines a dazzling pearl--- Nanhu Lake Park.

Situated in the south of Nanning City, Guangxi Province, Nanhu Lake Park is a water park with an area of 191.92 hectares, including 90.12 hectares land area and 101.8 hectares water area. Nanhu Lake Park perfectly integrates subtropical gardening landscapes with aquatic scenery which attracts a constant stream of visitors both home and abroad every year.

Nanhu Lake
Nanhu Lake, originally called Yongxi brook, used to be connected to Yongjiang River. Floods caused by Yongjiang River contributed to the formation of Nanhu Lake. In ancient times, whenever there were floods in Yongjiang River, water would flow back to Yongxi (Nanhu), which in turn flooded surrounding farmlands and houses. In order to improve the situation, the governor of Yongzhou(邕州) called on villagers to divert the water from Yongjiang River, and build dams, therefore Nanhu Lake took shape. Crowds of high rises surround Nanhu Lake, makes it an unique green area. 

Landscape Area
Visitors walking into the Landscape area can easily lose themselves in the wonderland of extraordinary trees and plants.

Landscape area is along Nanhu Lake with numerous amazing tropical trees --- like Beetle Nut trees, Palm trees etc; While, at both sides of the boulevard line a large number of ornamental plants. Different kinds of plants are reasonably arranged according to their distinctive features. Decorated with the vapor caused by water sprinklers, the landscape area is covered in mist; Visitors may mistake themselves in fairy tales.
 
 
 

The Chinese Medicinal Herb Garden (中草药圃)

The Orchid Garden兰花圃
Orchids, Chinese beloved flowers, were praised as GuoXiang(国香) in ancient China for its long-last fragrance. Besides, they are spokesmen of purity. In many Chinese classical works, poets used them to describe upright people with a strong will.

In 1973, in answer to the call of our former leader---Zhu De (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhu_De), Nanhu Lake Park was founded and was open to the public. The Orchid Garden covers an area of 1 hectare, cultivating 52 native species of Guangxi and 26 exotic species. It's an ideal place for orchid-lovers and a great eye-opening experience for tourists.

The Bonsai Garden盆景园
Built and opened in 1978, the Bonsai Garden served to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the foundation of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. With an area of 1.2 hectares, it features classic elements of the gardens of South China: pavilions, porches, sheds, trees, bridges, water, and rocks. Tourist walking in the Bonsai Garden may feel them wandering in a poetic picture.
 


Jiugongqiao Bridge (九拱桥)
Jiugongqiao Bridge (nine-hole arch bridge) is a bridge rested on nine arches which stretches over Nanhu Lake and is connected with the sight-seeing causeway. It’s creatively designed and very well maintained. It used to be printed on the postcard and stamps in 1988.
Standing on the bridge, you can have panoramic view of the whole park.




Water Screen Movie 水幕电影
330 meters in length, the water-screen movie project in Nanhu Lake Park is Chinese largest, most advanced water project with the richest performance forms. By applying the technology of water-screen image, art laser, 3D animation, it presents tourists with breathtakingly amazing visual experience. The Water-screen movie can take tourists into a journey combining high-tech with art, in which tourists can strongly sense sparks between fantasy and reality, romance and passion, present and future.
 
 

 
 

Baise Uprising Museum(百色起义革命烈土陈列馆)
Builit in 1984, Baise Uprising Museum was dedicated to revolutionary heroes who died in Baise Uprising. The museum was decorated according to the style of Zhuang Minority in Donglan area (东兰), where heroes used to stay.

The famous 23.9-meter-high Baise Uprising monument stands elegantly in front of the museum which resembles shape of a fluttering flag or a red-tasselled spear pointing to the sky. On the face of the monument, engraved our former paramount leader Deng Xiao ping’s inscription which reads “Heroes will live forever in our hearts”.

52 historical relics, 140 or so pictures and 42 historical materials on display in the museum throughout the year vividly show tourists Chinese rough revolutionary road.


Note: Baise Uprising is an armed uprising which happened in 1929. It was a successful practice led by CCP (the Community Party of China) in Minority area.
