and in front of the Gold City Pass, the bridge is the first of its kind in China. Built in 1907, the 33rd year under the reign of Emperor Guangxu of Qing Dynasty. Undertaken by a German businessman, the project cost a total of 306,000 taels of silver. Supported on four piers they were built of cement, iron pillar and stone-pieces on the upper part. Hongwu
(1368 - 1398) of the Ming Dynasty, was formerly known as Zhen Yuan Bridge. According to the Record of Lanzhou Prefecture jotted down in the reign of Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty, the pontoon consisting 24 large boats chained together over the river in summer days.
