Pujiang

 

 

Pujiang, crowned as the Village of Culture, Calligraphy and Painting, traditionally is the place has the long-standing history. Shangshan Culture Relic as the nation-class protection site of cultural relics has more then 10,000-year history. It is the earliest Neolithic relic that discovered in the southeast coastal area of the downstream of Yangtze River. It is also one of the earliest origins as the world rice planting area. In 195, it was approved to be the county and in 754, it was officially called Puyang County. In 910, Puyang was changed Pujiang, and up to now it has more than 1800 year history.

Pujiang is located in the middle area of Zhejiang province and the north part of Jinhua city with the total area of 920 square kilometers. It directly administrates 7 towns and has the population of 380,000. NO.1 family in Jiangnan as the nation-class protection site of cultural relics, was awarded by Zhu Yuanzhang, who was the opener of Ming dynasty. The folk arts are also very colorful and diverse. The bamboo root carving originated from Qing dynasty is equally ranked as Zhejiang Three Carvings with Dongyang wood carving and Qingtian stone carving. The Yinhui Performance is also marvelous that accepted as one Excellence of China. The celebrities here are also numerous such as Song Lian, the great literator and founder of Ming dynasty and Zhang Zhenduo. People here inherit the tradition of sewing and needlework, and their works are very elaborative and unique.
